The tertiary year begins in January and ends in December every year. The second largest state of Australia also follows the same academic structure. The longest break is the one follows after the fourth term in December and January. Summer vacation also coincides with the Christmas and New Year festivals. The term dates are identical in the non-governmental schools too. The independent and catholic schools follow the QLD school holidays of the state schools.
